Congratulations to the Towanda Jr/Sr High School Class of 2021! A special thank you to The Guthrie Clinic and Multi Media Services Business Printers for providing banners for our seniors.
The end of one era, and the beginning of another.
The last day of school for the Towanda Area School District is June 11. On June 14, from 8:00-10:00AM, we will be collecting laptops and technology from any virtual student. We will have a drop off location on the driveway behind the high school. Virtual students, Black Knight Academy students, and any student who still has a laptop should plan to return it at this time. Students who have hot spots or any other technology devices should return those as well. Thank you and have a great summer!
Towanda Area School District parents and guardians please be advised that school is cancelled tomorrow, Friday, December 18th. The cancellation includes all extracurricular and athletic activities.
We are proud to announce Taylor Aquilio was the winner for the 9-11 year old category in the Chamber Of Commerce Art Contest. Her winning entry is displayed at Foster Hall Antiques and General Store on Main Street. Congratulations Taylor.
The intent of this communication is to notify our school community of two recent Covid-19 situations involving students within the district. Yesterday, December 15, 2020, we were notified that a student at the Jr/Sr High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The last day this individual was in school was Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Potential close contacts have been identified and informed to not return to school until approved to do so based on CDC and DOH quarantine gui...delines. Also, today, December 16, 2020, we were informed that a student at the Towanda Area Elementary School (TAES) has tested positive. The last day that this student was in school was Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Families of potential close contacts have been identified and informed of their return date. Based on the Department of Education’s School Closure Matrix, there is no need to close either school at this time. The Jr/Sr High School currently has 2 positive cases that count towards the 14-day rolling period of the matrix. Classified as a medium sized building, the Jr/Sr High School would need to close for a period of time beginning with 4 confirmed cases in the building when Bradford County is in the Substantial category. Towanda Area Elementary School currently has 1 positive case in the 14-day rolling period. TAES is considered a small sized school and would need to move to remote instruction with the onset of 2 confirmed cases during the Substantial category. As a community, the key to our success is to continue working together as we strive to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe and healthy. Thank you again for working collaboratively with the district as we navigate through this public health crisis together. Stay safe and stay healthy. Dear Black Knight Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community, I hope that you all were able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. The Towanda Area School District will be returning to in-person instruction on Monday, December 7. There are only 12 days before our students will begin their Christmas break. It is our goal to have these days be in person for all three of our buildings. As a district, we have done the best we can at continuing to provide in-person instruction for ...our students, even during this difficult time. In order to do this as safely as possible, we have needed to have each of our buildings move to remote learning for periods of time. But, we continue to believe that in-person instruction is what is best for our students academically, socially, and emotionally.
