Union School District 11.11.2020

Students in Mr. Rimer's DPMP class have been working on independent video projects. This video project is a recreation of an introduction of the tv show called Psych. The students had to break down the introduction of the TV show scene by scene and recreate it the best that they could. The students have been studying different technical skills that come with film making such as different shot composition. This project was a great recreation of the tv show introduction produced by Zach Flick, Caden Rainey, Gavin Marsh, Ashley Jewell and Danny Duncan.

Good afternoon, Union School District participated on a video call from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for all schools located in Clarion County in response to recent spikes in numbers of people testing positive for COVID19. The call was prompted by protocols within the department of education which are enacted when a county reaches what is identified as a substantial level of cases within the county. This is identified by having >100 positive cases per 100,000 ...people or by having >10% positive cases in relation to tests given. Clarion County has now been identified as being in the substantial phase for one week, prompting the call. Should the county be in substantial for two consecutive weeks, PDE will be making the strong recommendation that schools move to remote learning. The Pennsylvania Department of Education, in conjunction with the Department of Health are not currently recommending a change in mode of educational services, however if Clarion County is in substantial for two consecutive weeks the recommendation will be that we move to remote learning. In the event that we need to move to remote learning, all students will begin their online educational experience by logging in to their first class at 10:30 AM to begin their first remote learning day. Please look for a time schedule to be provided by your building principal for educational services on this day. It is imperative that your child log in for each class to be counted as present for the day. Failing to do so may result in your child being marked with an unexcused absence. The following school day, all courses will be provided remotely at their normally scheduled times as identified by your building principal. We realize how much of a hardship this may cause for you and your family. Therefore, it is our fullest intent to continue in-person educational services as long as possible. However, in the event that we move to remote learning, Union School District will resume meal services to begin on the Thursday following notice of such a change. The same process as was used in the spring of 2020 will be utilized for meal pick up or delivery. Please keep in mind that delivery services are only to be utilized for emergency situations when families do not have the capability to physically pick up meals at the high school. A survey is posted on the Union School District Website to sign up for participation. We greatly appreciate your continued support as we all struggle through these tough times together. It is closeness of our community and willingness to work together that helps us to be successful in providing for the needs of each other and our children. Thank you for your time and continued attention! Sincerely, John Kimmel, Superintendent https://www.unionsd.net//1190-remote-learning-november-202
