A big welcome home to our friend Larry Bengough! Larry has been with Valley Forge FC for over 10 years and has been serving in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic in the Middle East for the last 10 months in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve. He’s qualified to work on the CH47F but has been working as a UH60 mechanic with the 28th ECAB. Typical duties included performing unscheduled maintenance, interval inspections based on flight hours..., and performing preventative maintenance to keep the air crews and passengers safe. This was Larry’s second deployment to the Middle East. Larry acted as a senior mechanic, providing guidance and insight to junior mechanics as they gained experience to become proficient maintainers. He also served as a member of the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART). Larry says that the highlight of deployment has been being afforded the opportunity to see The Middle East from the aircraft he maintains. Larry would like to express his sincerest gratitude to all those that have supported him in this latest mobilization, especially his wife Ashley and daughter Harper.

For about the last month, there have been various collection points throughout the area supporting the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots foundation. Toys for Tots accepts donations of new toys and monetary donations to distribute to the less fortunate in the region. Donation boxes were placed at both our main station and at the West End Fire Company. Fire Chief Raf Henin and Fire Prevention Officer Ashley Bengough dropped off our donations to the CubeSmart Self Storage this morning, which serves as a central collection point for the local Toys for Tots drive. Thank you to all who made this year’s toy collection drive a success! Picture below is Cube Smart Manager Thressa and Fire Prevention officer Ashley
