DiAnoia's Eatery 01.01.2021

While 2020 was really tough and really hard, there were still some amazing stand out moments. These 9 photos aren't necessarily our #topnine most popular posts of 2020, but the ones that we thought captured the year. . 1. The year started like no other, and we served you all many Gnocchi Sorrentina Bread Bowls from the comfort of our dining room pre pandemic. . 2. A pandemic hit us all and the world had to pivot. This is pre mask wearing days, but the beginning of social dist...ancing. Partnered with @412foodrescue to make school lunches for those who needed them during school closures. . 3. When @goodmorningamerica called and asked if we could help them feed the front line workers at @upmcnews @mageewomens hospital, we didn't hesitate. Not pictured here was a delivery made to @ahntoday West Penn hospital workers facilitated by players of the @pittsburghpirates. Truly some of our favorite moments of 2020. . 4. Partnered again with @412foodrescue in their #communitytakeout program. This was only 1 of 10 deliveries we did to get food to undeserved communities thanks to this program (which is actually in its 2nd round now and is truly a win win program, so please support if you can!) . 5. Mother's Day celebrations - but make it 2020. We learned quickly that people still wanted to celebrate the good things in life & we created many different take home kits and meals around holidays to keep you all well fed and festive in the safety of your own home. Feeding you all during the holidays even if we couldn't host you in the dining room was truly amazing. . 6. Certainly not a favorite moment, but this year taught us how much we appreciate our dining room and serving you all in it. While it was shut down for the majority of 2021, it also served as a holding space for building all of our takeout meals. . 7. So many takeout orders of Heirloom Tomato Tripoline. . 8. We turned the parking lot into an al fresco dining room and tried to make you all forget you were sitting in an alley in the Strip. . 9. Pasta Boxes and meal kits got a whole new life this year. You all learned how to make cacio e pepe, pizza and so much more at home w/our handmade ingredients. See more

- everything looks a little different these days, right? Same goes for our cacio e pepe pasta dish. Usually its served with our house made spaghetti, but we've swapped our the spaghetti for our house made rigatoni pasta. Why mess with a good thing you ask? Well being we are all takeout now, the rigatoni noodle holds up better with the cheesy sauce when it travels from our kitchen to your home. Though we can't serve you in our dining room right now, we still want to make sure you're eating the best darn pasta we can make. . Available for takeout on our website or delivery with @doordash

DiAnoia's Eatery 03.12.2020

- preorders open now in our website shop for Sunday's special red sauce dinner. Choose between a meat or vegetarian lasagna and it comes with a house salad, whipped ricotta, house-made focaccia bread and cookies. Available for pickup this Sunday. Find it in the "shop" section of the website.

- Grazie mille to everyone who joined us for tonight's White Truffle Takeout Dinner. We were very excited about this dinner and had fun with it, even if we couldn't be there in person to shave the truffles ourselves on your dishes at home. This dinner is over and sold out, but we have some other fun interactive dinners available for sale on our site under the "shop" section. These dinners are in addition to our regular takeout menu that will also continue to be available. We appreciate all of your orders and look forward to feeding you more at home! Pictured here is our chef de cuisine @tylerfrompittsburgh, the guy behind your special meal tonight! Don't forget to tag us in those truffle shaving boomerangs !

Today's announcement from @governortomwolf was a tough one to listen to, as we know the implications it has on our independent restaurant industry and other small businesses. It luckily doesn't change our current offerings since we had decided to go to takeout only back in November, and while that was a tough decision at that time, we are glad we acted then. Its been a rocky year with not knowing what's coming next for our business with things changing daily regarding state r...estrictions and safety guidance--saying its been a rollercoaster is an understatement. We will continue to do what we *think* is the right thing and try to stay ahead of whatever wave is coming our way. Safety of our team and our guests has always been top priority, which didnt always translate to fiscal health, but getting to still feed you all and see that there is still love and support for small business is really encouraging and speaks to our #Pittsburgh culture. . Lets make a deal with each other... We are still here to feed you, and until we can host you again in our dining room, we promise to keep doing our best to find new dishes and special takeout events to keep you enjoying our food safely. . In turn,we ask you all to please take a moment to really think through how you can support the local businesses you love this holiday season (and after!) as so many small businesses rely on holiday traffic to survive, especially the hospitality industry. Be extra generous with your tips (if you can) and be kind to staff who are working. Also understand that takeout at this capacity is a new way of business for many restaurants, so be kind when writing your reviews and giving your critiques.

' - Honoring our Veterans today and every day. We always like to take today to honor and thank those who fought for our country. We also love to share the story of our meatball recipe, which has some historic military background in our family. . We inherited this family meatball recipe from Aimee’s grandfather, Eddie Papsidero, who served in the army during WWII and is pictured here on the left. Just before shipping out from Medford Air Field in Oregon, he offered to cook his commanding officers his mother’s special spaghetti and meatballs . The meal was a game changer: His commanders insisted he stay on base as chef . Aimee’s mother, Kathy, handed down her father’s recipe to Chef Dave, and you can try it for yourself at not just DiAnoia's, but also at our sister restaurants @paneepronto and @pizzeriadavide!

Grazie mille for all the love today for Small Business Saturday. Though this has been a tough year for small businesses of all kinds, we have never been more proud to be a small business. With so many obstacles, other small businesses and independent restaurants have inspired us beyond imaginable this year. From coming together as an industry and supporting one another to creating completely new business models overnight to stay alive. We've sadly l...ost too many small businesses due to the virus, so let's be sure to not loose anymore. Try to think of every day as small business and support the local spots you love in Any way you can right now. If you don't have the means to spend money with your favorite local businesses, consider writing a positive review (am I right @yelppittsburgh?!), sharing a photo on social media, or telling a friend about a great experience you had with the business. Its all important! Keep up all the local love #pittsburgh! . pictured here is our classic Gnocchi & Meatballs and yep, it's available for takeout! Order online on our website Tues-Sat 4-8:30pm. . HAPPY 4 YEARS OF DIANOIAS! while this year was quite different from our previous three, we are so thrilled to be here. 4 years ago we started with just 13 employees and have since grown to a team over 60 people and opened three additional businesses that were the offspring of DiAnoia’s pizza and bread. A huge grazie mille to our amazing and dedicated staff who continue to work hard every day with passion for bringing a taste of Italy to Pittsburgh, especially this year when things weren't so easy. Lastly, grazie mille to all of you. Without you all as customers, we wouldn't be here at all, and we wouldn't be having nearly as much fun!

We have just learned that a member of our team received a positive COVID-19 test result today. This individual last worked at DiAnoia's and our sister restaurant @paneepronto nine days ago on Nov. 4th. They had no contact with customers. Our thoughts are with them during their recovery, and we have moved swiftly to notify the rest of our team, including any staff members who interacted with them. Those individuals were sent home to get tested. As an extra precaution, we have ...decided to close for the rest of this week. We are working closely with the Allegheny County Health Department to follow all safety guidelines, including extra sanitization and deep cleaning. Our team is like family. Cooking time: 40 minutes Ingredients 1 piece of chicken cutlet 16 oz Tagliatelle 1/2 tbsp Jerk Sauce 1 bouillon salt 1 1/2 cup Coconut Milk 1/2 cup heavy cream 1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese 4 tbsp butter 3 cloves minced garlic 3 different color bell pepper (Red, Yellow and Green representing the Rastafarian colors) Parsley to garnish Parmesan Cheese to Garnish Salt 1/3 cup Pasta Water (only if needed) In a bowl with a clean prepared chicken add jerk sauce and all-purpose season and marinade. (Marinating is optional) Add chicken to the oven on 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Use the broiler for 3-5 minutes to get a brown coat on the chicken. Just to get that jerk look. Add pasta to a pot to boil. Cook Al dente! In a saucepan melt, 2 tbsp butter then add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add salt, bouillon, and jerk seasoning and mix in. Then add cream and coconut milk and mix in. Mix for 1 minute. Add Parmesan cheese and allow that to melt in the mix. Set sauce aside for later. NB. If the sauce is too thick add pasta water to loosen. In a saucepan add butter and melt. Then add garlic and sauté until translucent. Then add bell peppers and mix in then add all-purpose seasoning and sauté. Add pasta to the vegetable pan and mix in for 30 seconds then add cream sauce and mix in. By then Jerk Chicken should be ready. Remove from oven and slice into cutlets. Serve pasta in your favorite pasta dish with Jerk chicken on top. Shave Parmesan and add parsley to garnish. Pasta Cooking time: If you are using fresh pasta from DiAnoa's then cooking time is 1 - 1.5 mins. Our pasta will last for a week. However, the longer you keep it the longer the cooking time. Jerk Sauce: You are welcome to make or buy your own jerk sauce or seasoning. In the video, extra jerk sauce was used at the end for that extra color.

- our Family Style takeout meals are back! We introduced these take home meals that can feed the whole family during the beginning of Covid-19 shut downs and recently we have had a lot of folks reach out to see if we might offer them again. Each family style meal comes with salad, house baked bread, an antipasto of your choice, two types of pasta an entree and dessert. Look for options like marinated eggplant, cacio e pepe and chicken parnesan. We need at least 24 hours notice for family meals and they can be ordered right on our website under the "shop" (follow the link in our stories!) Perfect for groups of four or more to take home and enjoy.

- Spoon, Pittsburgh is really going to miss you. Without Spoon and Chef Brian Pekarcik, Dave Anoia would have never moved to Pittsburgh and DiAnoia's Eatery would have never been born. Dave and Brian go back even further than Spoon, working together in San Diego where Dave got his start in the cooking industry working under Brian at Arterra. A few years later, Brian moved to Pittsburgh and "accidentally" called Dave, which resulted in Dave packing up his belongings ...and moving to Pittsburgh sight unseen for the opportunity to work with Brian again. It was just a few years later in 2010 that Brian's vision of Spoon came to life and Dave once again jumped at the opportunity to work under Brian as a sous chef. . Spoon was a major player in the restaurant revolution in Pittsburgh and without it, our dining scene in Pittsburgh would look very different today. Chef Dave grew from a sous chef to the executive chef during his 6 years at Spoon and learned a lot there working under chef Brian. From learning the numbers of a kitchen, to how to perfect the blue cheese souffle , and to properly balancing the work life balance of a chef in this industry. . Even after Dave left Spoon to pursue DiAnoia's Eatery, Dave and I often found ourselves perched up at the Spoon bar with Brian many late nights after service for countless hours of priceless restaurant business and life advice over a few glasses (and bottles!) of wine. . We are fortunate that we brought our family in to dinner in mid March, just before the Covid-19 shut downs began and unknowingly had the last meal served at Spoon. Chef Brian, we can't wait to see what you have planned next for Pittsburgh's culinary scene, because whatever it is will likely start another revolution. See more

Though we feel we have operated safely during these times, going above and beyond guidance and mandates, and have invested time and money in education, PPE and other resources, the recent shut down order from Allegheny County has us faced with the decision to close our doors temporarily. We will be closed from July 3rd-7th. We plan to reopen on July 8th once again as a curbside takeout only establishment. Guests will not be allowed in our building and we will not be able to ...offer even our new outdoor seating. We will see how this version of DiAnoia’s takeout goes for a few days before deciding on a longer term plan that will be sustainable. Unfortunately, the impact of these shut downs go way beyond our four walls, so we ask you all to please wear your masks , social distance yourselves, adhere to the state and local restrictions and help curb the spread so that we can open our doors for you all sooner than later. Our team and their families, our farm partners, our purveyors, our sales reps, etc all depend on your business. See more

- trying to bring a taste of Italy to our new outdoor patio seating (aka our parking lot). Due to the recent uptick in cases in Allegheny County, we have decided to keep all guest dining outdoors and have transformed our space to feel like something out of an Italian vacation instead of a back alley in the Strip District during a pandemic. Our indoor dining room will remain closed for at least the next two weeks or until we feel its safe. In addition to our back pat...io, we also have tables outside in front of our building. We are accepting reservations for all of these outdoor socially distanced tables, which will be weather permitting. If you have a reservation with us for the next two weeks, your reservation will be honored outside. We are also following the mandate of the Allegheny Health department to require all guests to wear masks at all times except when eating and unfortunately must prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages on site, even outside. For those of you looking to stay home, takeout and curbside pickup will continue to be offered. We cant thank you all enough for your continued support of our business during these times and letting our team continue to feed you. . Ps: grazie mille @tagliopgh for lending us your outdoor speakers! See more
