Christmas Tastes & Traditions Food Tour It was such a pleasure to work the folks at Savor Gettysburg Food Tours. After experiences some wonderful food around Gettysburg, the group finished up with a tour of the Shriver House decorated for Christmas and a socially distanced delicious dessert in Shrivers' Saloon. All we can say is Mmmmmm!

JUST IN!! The Gettysburg map pillow was reproduced from an original 1858 Adams County Map with the town of Gettysburg smack, dab in the middle of the pillow. The smaller one says it all - "Gettysburg". These would look great in a Civil War themed room or just as a reminder of a place you would like to be. They can be purchased on our website. http://shriverhouse.org/gifts-and-collectibles-gettysburg-p
Five Christmases at the Shriver House After a long, crazy year, we look forward to decorating the Shriver House for Christmas and giving our holiday tour. It's very different than the tours given throughout the rest of the year. We are taking reservations; tours begin on Thanksgiving evening.
Did you know? When George Shriver built his home on Baltimore Street in 1860, he also constructed an interesting and what seemed to be an unusual addition. A Ten Pin Alley. That’s right, a bowling alley in 1860. The enclosed structure was 14’ wide by 65’ long. Large enough for 2 lanes. As with the saloon, the bowling alley never operated with George leaving for war. Unfortunately, the building was removed to make way for the 1905 additions to the house.... However, we were still amazed that bowling was so popular in 1860, so we set out to learn more about it. Here is what we found. http://shriverhouse.org/shriver-videos.html
