We are happy to announce that Brookmont, in conjunction with CVS Pharmacy, will be providing the Coronavirus vaccine to the residents and staff. Vaccination Day is Monday January 4, 2021. Over the course of the last week or so residents were spoken to and families were contacted re: Vaccination Day. News of the vaccine was well received. Here's to rounding the corner, stemming the tide, cresting the hill and kicking the virus to the curb! Here's to a NEW YEAR & a NEW BEGINNING!! There's always something happening at Brookmont!
We did not gather and celebrate as in years past. We did celebrate the end of this year, thankful to be together, stopping for a moment of silence thinking of those who were not with us and then we CRANKED UP THE MUSIC AND ROCKED THE HOUSE kickin' 2020 to the curb...the music could be heard from one end of the building to the other. Here's to 2021! Be well. Stay safe. The residents and staff wish you and yours a HAPPY NEW YEAR!! There's always something happening at Brookmont!
Certified Nursing Assistant Stephanie Tuliszewksi is beloved by residents at Brookmont Healthcare & Rehabilitation. I love taking care of people, she said. A resident can cheer me up with a hug and a ‘Happy to see you!’ Stephanie often buys snacks and various items such as Old Spice and crayons for residents to make them smile, using her own money on her own time. Brookmont residents joke with Stephanie, telling her that she is not allowed to take off work because they will miss her. Pictured is resident Kenneth Werkheiser out for a walk with Stephanie at his side. #healthcareheroes #caregiving #unique #cnasrock
For 2021 I wish for people to find their heart...to be like penguins...
What was all that commotion in the parking lot today, you ask? It was the Boo Mont Fall Festival. Residents enjoyed the outdoors today [first time in a long time]. They tried their hands at Halloween themed games; candy corn ring toss, ghost bowling, pick - a - duck and a few more. Before heading back in for some ghoulish treats cooked up by the dietary team, residents enjoyed and participated in Halloween themed karaoke; Monster Mash, Time Warp and Thriller, to name a few. Staff even got in on the festivities. And did I mention they came in costume. There's always something happening at Brookmont!
God made a nurse. #RealNurseTalk #Heroes #NurseLife
It was a busy but encouraging week at Brookmont. In-door visitation continues by appointment and everyone, from residents to staff and their families are ecstatic. In addition, we have opened one of the dining rooms for communal dining. The gathering is small but its a start. We've also resumed group activities. We continue to follow CDC guidelines and although the numbers are small, the residents and the staff are happy to see "life" moving in the right direction. Enjoy your weekend. Stay safe! There's always something happening at Brookmont!!
T’was a month before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown.... The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Contagious and deadly, This virus spread fast, Like a wildfire that starts When fueled by gas. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s November And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. Frontline workers, Doctors and nurses, Try to save people, From riding in hearses. This virus is awful, This COVID-19. There isn’t a cure. Too early for vaccine. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, When no one will see it, No-one but me. But outside my window The snow gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas ain’t cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope
Changes are coming...it is our hope that within the next week or two [or more as this is a fluid time] that we will be expanding our re-opening plans to include communal dining, activities and visits while continuing to follow CDC guidelines. It's no secret the last 6 months have been challenging. Our staff have met each obstacle head on. With the continued guidance from administration, the hard work from staff and the support from our families we will get through this. Thank you!
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Anewalt...during the time that she was with us she was a dedicated volunteer...RIP Sharon
it couldn't hurt...
And so it begins....
From our house to yours, we wish you a happy fall! Today our residents will reminisce about fall while sipping on some apple cider. Although we still can't gather our activity dept go to great lengths, moving from hall to hall to include everyone in the programs. Residents participate from their rooms/doorways and the staff, utilizing a mic and speaker travel up and down the corridor to connect to everyone. There's always something happening at Brookmont!
Thank you to Nadine and Bob, two of our volunteers and part of the group Country Gospel, who performed under the gazebo for our residents. Even though they listened from their rooms and watched through their windows their toes were tapping and hands were clapping. There's always something happening at Brookmont!
It's that time a year again! Our friends at the American Red Cross will be coming to our Lehighton Station for a blood drive on Friday. October 2nd. We will still be practicing all CDC guidelines and we strongly encourage individuals to have an appointment.
https://guardianeldercare.com/coronavirus/ Dear Family and Friends - We understand these last several months have been very trying; that fear of the unknown was, and may remain, overwhelming. Please know that we are working very hard to keep your loved one safe; that plans are being finalized and awaiting approval to open to visitors; that our residents, your family & friends, miss you dearly but understand the need to be methodical and cautious. We hope to have some excit...ing news to share with all of you very soon. Thank you for your patience. The Staff of Brookmont
