HELP YOUR LOCAL FIRST RESPONDERS: ... With the hot weather we are having outside, please don’t forget to stay hydrated! You could even help your volunteer fire department, Emergency Medical Service or other public service organization by donating cases of water or Gatorade. Members of our community have donated these and other items to us to help keep firefighters and responders ready for action in the station and on emergency scenes. ... If you would like to donate a case please feel free to leave it at our station. We greatly appreciate past donations and will be very thankful for any future donations to help keep all your local responders cool, healthy, and working hard serving the community. Thank you!

HELP US SERVE YOU! South Strabane Fire Department announces it's annual fund drive! Dear Community, No doubt that thus far the year 2020 has seen many challenges that have affected families, organizations and our community all in different ways. The members of the South Strabane Fire Department are happy to inform you that we are taking the recommended safety precautions to help keep us safe and to better serve you in the events we are seeing occur every day. Likewise, we... hope that all of you have been able to safely deal with these events. We want you to know that in a time of need your fire department will be there to assist with your needs, as that is the most important part of our mission. The South Strabane Fire Department continues to look at ways to be able to better serve the needs of the community in ways that it has for decades and new ways; this includes bringing new training to its members, strategic planning and response management, acquiring new equipment as well as maintaining our fleet of equipment that has served our community well. Part of this continued desire to serve you better comes with burdens of its own as you may know. Though much of our community has been impacted by the COVID-19 global pandemic, job losses and other factors your fire department has been effected also with the loss of income due to not being able to hold bingo or rent our social hall. Our 2020 Fund Drive Campaign, like many years in the past is an opportunity for us to seek support in funding and other means needed to help keep us operational and growing. We would ask, if you are able, to please consider donating to keep our great organization serving your needs. Beyond financial funding, there are other ways to get involved with your Fire Department. If you are interested in helping in your community the Fire Department can always use new members with needs from those to actively fight fires, help maintain facilities, operate events and the many other duties that are involved. Interested parties can contact the fire department at 724-222-3885 or send us a message via our social media to see how to help. Donations via check preferred, by mail or drop-off. Thank you in advance for your consideration, The Membership of The South Strabane Fire Department

After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to cancel bingo for the remainder of the month of March, starting Monday March 16, 2020. As a precaution, we have decided to take the recommendation by the Pennsylvania Department of Health which highly encourages cancellation of large gatherings. This decision was made out of concern to help protect our community and our volunteers from the potential spread of COVID-19. South Strabane Fire Department’s number one priority is to... protect our community. The following are recommendations from the CDC that we highly encourage everyone to practice. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Wash your hands frequently. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Consider staying at home and away from crowds if you or a family member are an older adult or have underlying health issues. For further information on COVID-19, home preparedness, and what to do if you suspect illness, please follow the below link to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. https://www.cdc.gov/corona/2019-ncov/community//index.html We will update on April’s scheduled bingo at a later time. We thank you for your understanding and wish everyone great health!
